Waouw, that is amazing !

To my understanding, can the relay send only partial information to the ECU?

I have an issue with my car, with a missfire on cylinder N°2 and I supect the ECU. But could the relay be at fault ?

By the way, very good job !

I would swap it out with the AC relay as I did and see if it corrects the issue. Also check out the coils, possibly swap it our for another one, such as #1 and see if the ECU gives a code for that cylinder.

Let us know and good luck!

Dear ray,

Thanks for the answer. I have swappped both coils and the spark is still weak and appears randomly. I suspect a bad connection...

I will investigate that and keep you updated !

Here is a pic of the scanner I use. It was about 140, and allows me to read real time data in addition to reading and deleting codes. Its an Actron CP9574. Bought it at Sears.

What year is your car? 96 and above are OBD II where as 95 and below is OBD I think.

I would suggest you check into another garage, they don't seem too helpful.

Make sure the scanner is able to read your vehicles computer before you open it. I'm not sure mine can read OBD, but my car is OBDII and that is what I know my scanner can read.

Hey! I have an extra one of these relays that you are welcome to have if you want it. If so, shoot me your address in a message & I'll get it out in the mail to you. It's just collecting dust. FREEBIE!

Dear Wolfman01869,

Thanks a lot for the free relay !! Unfortunately, I am located in France so shipping might cost a lot !

I have swapped the relay with the aircon one and it did not change anything. I don't think it is a relay issue and most probably a sensor one

The diagnostic tool will help me, hopefully. I got one from ebay and will receive it next week hopefuly !

I will keep you updated !

Best regards

Julien

GatorJoe, would you by chance know the part number of those relays. I have been having minor stalling for a long time and I think we may have hit on the problem. what I want to do is just replace all three with news. That heat environment is not a good spot and the stall is always after at least a 30 mile drive. Sounds like a heat problem. If you know the part no. it would be appreciated.

EZDriver, the part number is LNA6706AA. It's a waterproof relay.

I'm sure someone who really knows will verify, but I think '95 was the change year. ( some OBDI some OBDII) My '95 is OBDII.

GatorJoe, can you give me a few tips as to how to remove the darn relays. I hesitate to just start jerking on them considering how old the wiring is. It appears they are really locked in place.

Thanks

You just have to manhandle them as I recall. You are right in that they are kind of locked in. No tricks, just work them out.
