97 XJR not unlocking in Park:

Out of no where today it has decided that when I put the car in Park and shut the car down its not going to unlock the doors. Was working fine yesterday and made no repairs on it since.
All other lock and unlock features working fine, FOB is fine, keys work fine and lock button in center console works fine.
I shut the car down, go to use door handle and its free, no resistance like its not hooked to anything. hit the unlock on FOB and handle(inside handle) works .

Any suggestions??

My *guess* is that the lock system doesn't know the gearshift has been moved to "P".

The security/lock module gets a signal from the "not in park" switch.....which, when closed, is interpreted as being "in park". I wonder if there's a problem in that neck o'the woods?
