It goes off if the car is powered down but then when I turn the car back on the tel mute just comes back up on the display and none of the buttons are responsive . Cheers

If your radio is the one shown above try the following. It may sound silly but when mine was acting up by being stuck on one station and at a locked volume I pushed a cassette in then ejected it and all functions worked. Try holding the eject button in for a couple of seconds. I know I've read that others have had the same experience with the eject button "unfreezing" the radio. Can't hurt to try it.

Radio
The only reason I would think it may be the Mast because sometimes the radio works and ten other times it might make a real loud kind of pop sound and them or will not come in anymore. Also when that happens ill try the scan botton and it does not pick up stations . I have checked behing the radio everything seems fine

Loud Pop/scratching noise ye. My radio is starting to do the same from time to time. Mostly when it is a hot day. I think you should reconsider about replacing it with an alpine spare or custom radio.

so i first off want to say thank you to everyone for the great advice they have given me towrds fixing my radio. so after a few days of trying different things making sure connections where good i said to myself why dont i try to clean the unit itself , i remember seeing a message about it needing to be cleaned on the screen along time ago. so i grabbed a can of electronic contact cleaner and sprayed through the tape deck . about a hour later i went back out my car turned the key on no radio then i pushed a tape in there and it started working . and when i ejected the tape the green light even came on the screen of the radio and has stayed on for the past few days! it has not done that even since i first bought the car. so maybe it was just dirty .....anyway if your radio is doing the same just spray some electronic contat cleaner in and try it out! it cant hurt the radio in anyway at all,
cheers!
cheers!
