Default Airbag fault resetting

Hi Guys

So I've had my airbag fault checked and been told it's the squib. I've replaced it with a new one that a guy on eBay says works and the AIRBAG light hasn't reset.

Is it only a Jag dealer that can clear this code or should it just clear itself?

Look forward to your comments.

FWIW, I had an Air Bag light on a year or so ago. As I recall, the light turned itself off after the problem was fixed.

Cheers

That's what I'm thinking, Doug. He hasn't fixed the problem - maybe a bad connector.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the reply. I've had two second hand squibs installed and the light didn't go away so either

A) The squib wasn't the problem in the first place or
B) I've been really unlucky and bought two dodgy second hand squibs or
C) The light does need resetting by Jag

As Jaguar told me it was the squib and they won't charge me if they can't reset the light, then I might as well get them to try.

I'll keep you guys informed.

When you first turn the ignition on you will see the airbag light flash. It flashes three times giving two groups like this -- ---- -- ---- -- ---- this code would be 24.
This is a diagnostic for the problem.

Steve

Na it doesn't. When I start the car all the lights come on and then go out. After about 3-5sec the airbag light comes on and the display reads AIRBAG. I can clear the airbag on the display by pressing the ODM button, but the airbag light stays on. Nothing flashes.

That's exactly how mine behaved.

What's a "squib", by the way?

Cheers

Hi DD

I think the correct terminology is clock spring. See this eBay page http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...d=251262905927

If this doesn't work search eBay for x300 squib.

OK, presumably your MY doesn't have this code facility, I thought it did.
As you can get the dealer to read the codes FOC it doesn't matter.

Hi Steve

Jaguar didn't read the codes FOC, they charged me for that last year, but they have said if they can't clear the airbag light then they won't charge me.

I'll let you all know how I get on.
