Default airbag light appeared

1995 XJ6

Following the complete discharge of the battery and electrics on the car due to loss of the belt for the Alt/WP, the airbag light has now appeared. Both the red light on the dash and the word "airbag" in the odometer window stays on constantly. Is it likely it needs a reset after the electrical failure or is it just coincidence that it turned on as a result of a true fault and has nothing to do with the recent electrical issue.

Thanks.

Try a hard reset first.

Well.... did hard reset. airbag light and display on odometer still comes on. so a sensor or control box or something somewhere is faulty I guess.

Could be a bad connection on a plug somewhere. Also check the fuses
