Default Another ABS sensor question

Hey fellas, I have an ABS sensor giving me issues. ABS light on, dead speedometer. Obviously left rear sensor issue. I figured I would clean the sensor and see if that works, since I don't want to sell one of my kidneys to buy another one. I removed the bolt holding it in but the sensor does not budge. Is there a way to get this sucker out without breaking it? Also, can it be cleaned In Situ? I figured a small bottle brush with soap and water shoved in between the hub cam and the sensor. Has anyone tried a pressure washer? Just looking for opinions. Thanks in advance.

The left rear is also the speedometer and I think cruise control

It is used as a rear left and right pair in the traction control

Motorcarman ( Bob ) had a suggestion of pushing it out from the inside

Least getting it out it will read 1300 ohms resistance as a fundamental reading

A functional reading would be about 1 volts AC if you spin the tire in the correct direction

You can do this test from the ABS module up front under the hood

Left rear is pin 9 and 10

There is a knuckle in the way so you would have to rotate the rear wheel to get a clean shot on it

With me a long screwdriver was tried but I was not successful in getting it out

I busted my original sensor trying too hard from the outside with it breaking

In sourcing a sensor a left will not work for a right and some work has been done on substitution sensors

Someone found an issue with the connector under the rear seat pan but that's a job , but if replacing the sensor you have to get there anyway

There is a change in part #s as a group during X300 production so a 1995 will not work for a 1997

I haven’t had to remove mine but similar problems were overcome on other cars with extremely patient and gentle tapping of the lug from side to side while applying copious amounts of penetrating oil. Only about a 50% success rate, but worth a try. You are going to have to get it out one way or another….

With the tapping from side to side may lead to the top plastic portion to separate from the steel cap that goes into the hole in the hub casting , a light tap would help migrate some penetrate into the area of concern

I would place more emphasis on the pushing from the inside out

Or if you can get a solvent patch on the inside sensor face

Do an electrical meter check before you commit to removing the sensor

You can compare your meter readings including the wheel spin test against the other wheels as I marked them as color pairs in the module connector pic

Thanks guys. I think I will take out the back seat and do a meter check there. I need to do it anyway to clean and recondition the leather. If it ohms out, I will try and clean it without taking the sensor out. Too risky!

On the back seat bottom pan removal be careful to not drag it out the door least damage the felt trim around the rear door opening

Might as well as having the lower pan out ensure on the car's right under a black plastic triangle that the battery cable terminal nuts are tight

If you dont have access to a specilized jaguar service station you need to buy an autel ap200. It's the only cheap and easy obd scanner that can read the x300 abs.
