Default Body Processor Unit

I'm probably going to have to replace my body processor unit soon, I have found several used one's. If I find one that matches my year/make/model, will it have to be programmed or can it just plug and use? If it does have to be programmed, can a mechanic who specializes in European cars do this?

I had to replace mine a while ago. Bought a used one on ebay. Just plugged it in; no programming necessary.

This is not a criticism, but why pay to use Ebay, why not sell direct?

ebay provides protection for the buyer and the seller. Unfortunately, that is becoming increasingly important on the internet.

Don't take mine as the final word on this, but.....

I *think* you'll have to find a processor with the same part number and *suffix* or programming very well could be needed.

The vast majority of USA market cars were built/equipped the same way so your chances are good at getting an exact match.

I'm sure this suffix issue applied to engine ECUs. I'm not quite so sure it applies to body control modules.....but thought I throw it out there anyhow.

Cheers
DD

So, I got the part I ordered from Ebay. The part that came out of my car was LNA2500 suffix 007 - and the part I rec'd was the same. When the mechanic put the part in, it worked for approximately 1 min. then everything shut down and the same issues happened, car not starting, wiper doesn't work, headlights, marker lights, etc. Is the part bad, or is my security system shutting things down? I'm at my wits end with this issue.
