Default brake light failure

need help!

two brake light have gone out (third in rear window still works), i've changed all bulbs

rear fog no longer work (bulbs also changed)

changed the 10amp fuse number F6 under right rear seat

should be unrelated but now my heat no longer works

i'm truly baffled about where to proceed from here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

note: my wife set off the alarm a week or so ago when i was in a store, by the time i came out it had turned itself off. i found this weird and i'm wondering if it could somehow be related

thanks

chris

i should add that the warning lift for a burnt out bulb goes off when i apply the brakes. i find this odd as i thought it would only indicate a failed brake light bulb when the brakes were applied

Brake lights and Fog Lights both out would point towards Light Control module issue so that's where I would go next. High Level brake light is controlled by a different relay.

The module is in the boot in the same compartment as the rear fusebox. It's about the size of a VHS cassette.

Check the inputs and outputs to the module before condemning it. You can get the wiring diagrams by download using links in the "How To" section.

Please report back as there was an a post with an almost identical issue a while back but as is often the case the OP did not provide a conclusion to the problem. See that post here

Need a little more info regarding your heat to be of much help. No fan? or just no warm air? Pretty common problem with the latter. Possible causes: (in order of likelihood as I perceive things) T'Stat stuck open, heater core needs flushing, Aux heater pump brushes worn out, Water-valve stuck closed. All easy DIY and inexpensive fixes. Cast a search net and you'll find many nuggets on each.

Might want to try to reset the Jag.
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Depress the brake for 10 seconds.

3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Good luck....

blower works fine, just produces zero heat. engine comes up to temperature fine, so i'm ruling out a stuck open themostat.

i'm guessing it is the lamp control module

turns out it was the lamp control module

the heating issue hasn't been resolved yet, haven't had time to do much work on the car

the pump and valve do appear to be getting power

Did you have to replace the lamp control module, or loose connections, or?

Glad to hear you have that at least sorted.

I would assume an easy test of the pump would be to listen for its operation with a mechanic's stethoscope or a wooden dowel/screw-driver on the housing and to the ear?

P.S. Am curious, where does the wiring harness terminate/go for the third brake light then? I have a mind to put a 'modulator' on mine to avoid getting rear ended. Have to splice into that wiring to do so though.
