Canadian BPM on a US spec X300, any concerns or gotchas?
So, if you read the following thread about DRLs and my post in the marketplace forum, you'll see that I am looking for a Canadian Body Processing Module for my US spec 1997 XJR.
It appears that the DRL function is programmed into the Canadian version of the BPM, so in theory this would be plug-and-play to enable DRLs on a US spec car.
But here's my question: Would there be any other desirable or undesirable functionality in the Canadian BPM that I should be aware of when fitted to a US spec car?
I'd hate to install it and have it temporarily or permanently mess up some other function that I didn't want modified.
Thoughts on any other (than DRLs) Canadian specific functions/options that the BPM controls that would be different than a US spec car?
Canadian BPM LNA2500BB017
USA BPM LNA2500BB007

...oh, and if anyone has a line on a Canadian BPM for the X300, please let me know. I'd prefer one from 1997 in case there are any 1995/1996/1997 differences, but if anyone can confirm that they are the same part number and revision over the three years, then I guess it doesn't matter. Checking some of the vendor sites, it appears that the part is only listed as LNA2500BB007 or LNA2500BB017 without versions or designations for years. So maybe they were unchanged for 1995-1997?

Can't think of anything, and the only note in the electrical manual is the DRL's are in the Canadian cars. The two markets are quite harmonized, so there should be little difference. Jaguar built to a "North American" specification, the only difference in Canadian and US regulations at the time I believe was DRL's. Emissions and crash regulations were harmonized.

There are 2 body processor modules listed: with and without security. Those with security are the part numbers you have noted, and they don't change.
The BPM's without security are:
Canada: LNA2500AA018
USA: LNA2500BB007, which is superceded to LNA2500BB014, now NLA.

In the context of these BPMs, what is "security"?
Is this just the standard remote control and immobilizer? The US cars for example do not have the interior motion detectors the some of the European models do, if that is the "security".
Maybe I should ask the question differently: Is "security" on the Canadian and USA spec cars the same?

As far as I know, it is. The European cars are quite different. On the wiring diagram there isn't a difference between USA and Canadian market cars in regard to the security module.
