My 1997 XJR will not start from time to time when the car is in Park, it will if I get it into Neutral but sometime it will not move out of park. Will this be linkage or something else going on.

There ar eseveral microswitches in there, along with a rotary switch on the XJR (I think), and a solenoid to release from Park. They must all work and be corrctly adjusted. So, yes your problem is probably in that linkage. I haven't looked, but adjustment is most likely in the service manual.

 

Hi Spartenzap as I don't yet have a manual of any sort for this car would these be under the car in built into the center consul?
