Default Car won't start! Please help!!!

Ok here is the story. I was driving to go look at a set of tires for my 1996 x300 (my front's were getting a little low on tread) and ironically my front right tire popped on the way. No biggie, except that when that happened my car died on me. Kaput. It wouldn't even let me shift into neutral for the tow driver(I had to push the release button to get it into gear).

Well I got my tires fixed but still there is no starting the car. What's even stranger is when I turn my key over, nothing happens on the gages. My fuel doesn't go up, battery, nothing. I know I have battery power, the lights work, I'm able to lock/unlock with alarm, roll up windows etc. It seems like everything mechanical doesn't work. I can't use my windshield wipers or anything.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I would suspect that a harness in the right front wheel arch area was damaged. I found some TSBs for engine faults that have harness wiring involved. Even if the harness corrosion is not a factor, the area of the harness might be relevant if it is damaged (pay attention the right front harness described in 05.1-14)

Thanks. I did some research on it and came up with 3 different possibilities.

1. Inertia Switch - Located behind the passenger side lower kick panel.
2. Fuse #4 or #5 in the trunk
3. Body Processor Module under the glove box.

Gonna go back to the car in a few and check it out. More to post...

I had a 95 xj6 and loved the car. As for your situation I would be looking under the hood for any fuses or relays that might have popped out of position and yes I would check the inertia switch. I do not know how dramatic the tire failure was but I must assume it took a few jolts that might have dislodged fuses, relays and/or tripped the inertia switch. Let us know how you make out.

Well after much prodding around I FINALLY found the Inertia switch. I pressed it and tried to start the car again. Nothing but the gages did finally start to come on which was progress. So I did a hard reset of the battery, crossed my fingers and it worked. I was so happy to have my baby back
Now I just have to put the kick panel back on....
