CEL and timing
New owner of a 97 x300. When bought the gas cap was damaged and did not latch on at all. Drove the car for a while and the CEL came on. I replaced the cap cause I know it will sometime trigger it on other cars, I also noted that a part/sensor on top or near the injectors, had shifted or moved a bit. It's held by 2 bolts and one of the was completely off. I repositioned it and bolted it down. My CEL did not go away and even after disconnecting the battery for over and hour it did not clear. I had a friend at a shop put a scanner on it and it came back with a knock sensor code. I suspect that it was the unbolted sensor that had caused it. I have the code cleared and has not come back. while driving if I listen carefully i can hear what i believe is knocking from the motor. I looked at the crank angle sensor and it's rotated completely clockwise and based on other cars I've own I dont think that is correct. I've set timing on other cars by rotating the CAS. Does anyone know the procedure to set timing on this car or what degree it should be from TDC ?
thanks in advance.
