Default Certificate of conformity

Hi everyone and it's a great privilege to be part of this forum for so many reasons. I would like to get my beloved X300 back on the road, however, being in the London ULEZ it's costing £12.50 a day to do so. My friend has a Mercedes 500 5 litre which is the same year and with a bigger engine then my 4 litre, and it is ULEZ compliant. I have been told that if I can get a certificate of conformity, then that will help in me applying to get ULEZ exemption. My understanding is that the x300 has secondary cats as the Mercedes and should also qualify for the ULEZ exemption. I have read that the nox readings didn't come about until 2000, so how would I get to know if my x300 has nox readings below the 0.08 grams per Kilometre. A couple questions if I may, firstly has anyone received a certificate of conformity on an x300 xjr 1997? Secondly where can this certificate be obtained from?

I went around this very circle when the ULEZ was expanded in August, and I am sorry to report that it is not possible to get this certificate. I did get one from Jaguar for my 2002 XJ8 but when I attempted to get one for my 1997 XJR6 they told me that they only have records back to the 1998 X308. It is a shame because with 4 Cat Converters it should pass but you can’t the paper work.

Although I don’t like her, I will be voting for the Tory candidate in the hope she will stick to her promise and scape ULEZ (some hope I know)!

Hello, Just wondering if you still have that link/email address/contact etc for the people you communicated with at Jaguar re your ULEZ enquiry? I have a 1999 XJ8 model, so hopefully they will have records for that. Thanks in advance.

Hello Jaguar147!
Welcome to the forum, please introduce yourself and your car in the new members area.

I got my certificate back in 2021, but who knows how you will get on with all the changes Jaguar are introducing......

This is who I dealt with, and good look as I believe the V8 models are compliant (except the SC models with only became compliant from 2000).
Please come back and say how you got on

Thank you for the reply.
I actually found a customer service number for Jaguar (0345 303 2303) and rang them about it yesterday. They were very helpful.
They are indeed able to provide the Certificate of Compliance re emission data for free. I am currently in the process of buying a 1999 XJ8 and will be requesting the current owner to obtain this document in their name. If the nox figures stand up then I will buy it. I will then have to obtain the same document in my name as the new owner and register it with TFL to get the exemption.
Unfortunately I live just a mile inside the new ULEZ zone.
Here are three links for short videos about a guy who went through the process and successfully registered his 1998 Porsche car with TFL. The details and persistence are important to avoid the delays he experienced. He got there in the end:

Here is the relevant TFL page to register your exemption:https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/com...fore-you-start
Hope the above is useful.
Best regards to all.

Well done. Once registered with TFL it’s the number plate, not the owner, that is important. That means you will only have to re register if there is a plate change. I had that problem when I bought my Daimler super V8. It was a simple job, but just took a few weeks!

Good luck with new car!
