Default Challenging year for Rusty

Since Monaco Rusty has had a few issues. Stuck thermostat caused engine to run cold ad burn out MAF. She also failed MOT for rot and lights and needed work on engine breather system and inertia switch. Now serviced she is hopefully ready to visit circuit de Reims. Part of Jaguar racing history and home of Champagne. Will she hold together for another adventure….?

You can remove the 3 wire temp switch on the rear aft lower radiator and have the fans run at high speed at all times , the coolant temp regulation will be handled by the thermostat coolant flow through the radiator .

But there is a precaution in both fans starting up at the same time with higher current flow that may blow the single fuse that handles both fans

The limiting factor would be the condition of the fan control module under the car that is actually a set of sealed relays that can be compromised and not know it

My fan control module was mounted upside down from the previous owned and hater can get inside ruining the 3 relay's power contacts

You could shake mine and hear the water inside , when cutting open it was toast

Ideally if you installed 2 high current manual switches , one for each fan and turn one fan on at a time at race start

The inertia switch can be bypassed from tripping by jumpering the 2 white wires in the connector or just splicing them

If you take the inertia switch apart it is spring loaded and parts will fly everywhere

The 2 wire temp sensor from reading others may have been the root of a observed overheat that can be cheaply replaced

If I understand you correctly, the engine didn’t overheat, but ran too cool. Consequently, I do not think the damage will extend beyond the components you have identified and I presume replaced.
Lights and inertia switch are in truth pretty trivial and not likely to cause wider damage. Again, I assume now fixed.
You don’t mention where the rot was, but apart from a very small number of fairly isolated spots, these cars are not rust buckets. Again, it sounds as if you have fixed them.
So to cut a long story short, I’m betting Rusty will be delighted to transport you to Reims and back. Enjoy!

Thank you for the info on cooling fans. My fans seem to come on and off as they please, irrespective of engine temp. I can feel the relay clicking when the fans start. I like the idea of a manual switch. I guess as the relay on radiator seems to control the fans I just wire in manual switches instead of the relay?

The fans also come on when the aircon is cooling, regardless of engine temp.
