Default Convertible XJ6!!!

I was checking out Jaguars on the Pittsburgh Craigs List and came across a 1996 Vanden Plas that someone cut most of the roof off and installed a bunch of snaps on both sides. Can someone please post the connection to the site?

Jaguar made one themselves, call Corsica. When they made it, it didn’t have running gear but this was added later by David Marks. Such a gorgeous looking car. Why they never put it into production only they know, but it would have sold!

That would be really sweet with the supercharged lump in it.

The "Daimler Corsica":

The Daimler Car Company was bought in 1966 by Jaguar and integrated into Jaguar.
The Corsica was a present for themselves for the 100th. Birthday of Daimler.
The Corsica was never meant for mass-production.

BTW: Only in the US the Daimler was labeled "Vanden Plas" because in the US "Daimler" Brand is in the hand of Mercedes Benz.

Makes you wonder how good an XJ C would have looked on the X300 platform....

1:43 is too small, need 1:18 as a minimum otherwise it just looks like a toy.

That Corsica is probably the best looking X300 ever made. The coupe and convertible proportions just work so well, and look better than the other European convertible competition of the day, even higher end marques.

Jaguar would have sold "a million" of them, and could have charged "a million" too

Now that I've looked it over again, I'm stunned at how gorgeous it is. It sure would have sold!

Maybe Jaguar didn't want to intrude into the debut of the XK8 with another convertible. On the other hand, the Corsica is a lot different than the XK8.

Too bad David Marks didn't source a V12 for it, which would have made it a Daimler Double Six Corsica! A production model might have included the V12 as an option, as well as left-hand drive. I would have (eventually) been there for one of those.

Love that specially made-up VIN!
