Default Cooling Fans

Got a 1997 X300 3.2L. The cooling fans run continuously when the ignition is switched on (with or without the engine running). Have heard this may be result of a mod Jaguar released to cure some other problem. Does anybody know if this is correct and is there a workaround. Seems a bit excessive to have fans running on short journeys in winter!

Be careful if you decide to change the circuit back. It was done for a reason, which was to prevent blowing the fan fuses.
