Default Correct rims for my 1997 XJR

Hi all been looking for new tire for my XJR and everyone I have spoke to tells me I have the wrong wheels on this car. The 1997 XJR they tell me came with a 17" rim but the tires on the car now are 225/60-16 not 17 teens. So can anyone say if these do or donot belong on this XJR..

Thanks

Original set-up was 17x8 wheels with 255/45x17 tires. I went to 225/60x16 myself on my XJR.

Cheers

So Doug are you indicating that the 16: wheel is a Jag wheel then? Plus there's a tin insert in each of these rims that I don't care for they cover up the brake caliper etc. And rattle from time to time. Does one really need those?
