Hi,
Initially if I closed my door hard, which I didn't like doing, my open door indicator light would turn off. Now it stays on all the time while driving. What do I need to check/clean to fix this problem.
Thanks,
Jomo

G'day Jomo,
The door closed switch is part of the actual door lock/latch and is a sealed microswitch which cannot be serviced. One of mine failed and I could not find a suitable replacement so I bought a used door latch, it does not matter which one as they all have this switch inside, and swapped the bad switch for a good one.
The problem is that the door latches are difficult to remove and replace and the two wires from the door switch go to a multi pin plug with all the other connections and you either have to splice the new switch in or unpin the old switch from the multi pin plug and insert the pins from the replacement switch, which is what I did.
No amount of spraying the old switch with contact cleaner and blowing out with compressed air managed to restore function so I was stuck with replacement.
Cheers and good luck,
Jeff.

I pretty sure X300/X308 sedan lock/latches are the same so a good_used from a salvage vehicle would work.
The chance of finding used increases with the X308 sedan range. (9 year models to choose from 1995-2003 here in North America)
