Recently purchased a 95 Vanden Plas. In mostly good working order. One thing I've noticed when driving is sometimes I will hear a rapid shaking/vibrating noise coming from the steering column and sometimes also on the left side of the engine. It doesn't happen all the time, and I have not noticed any consistency regarding it only happening at a certain speed.

It's been raining pretty consistently for a few days and I haven't had a chance to pop the hood and see if anything is loose or not.

 

UPDATE: The noise occurred again a I was driving in a parking garage. I only heard it when I stepped on the gas; each time I let the car coast on its own, the noise stopped.

 

sounds like a loose or broken motor mount.
