DIY Tools and Equipment
I would be described as an unashamed DIY nut. If there's anything needs doing, then I'll always prefer to do it myself. Part of this condition, is my love of restoring things, bringing old worn out, unloved things back to life.
I've recently finished a complete restoration/refurbishment of a small, 16' Microplus cabin cruiser and look forward to the fine weather coming, when she will take to the water.
I also have a 1968 MGBGT in storage, ready for a nut and bolt restoration, including much cutting and welding etc.
I have a lot of equipment, gathered over the years, but one thing I didn't have, was a blast media cabinet. I looked online and found many, but all quite small, with prices going through the roof when you got into more practical, useable sizes.
As I already have a compressor etc. I thought, "Why not make my own"? So I did. It's almost finished, with just a few minor bits needed for completion.
It measures 3' long x 2' deep and will comfortably take most things I'll ever need to clean, including painted wire spoked wheels! Otherwise a major pain!
Anyway, some pics included, and following along, will be a large 6'x4' workbench/welding station, to include a DIY metal brake for bending sheet steel.
I know this isn't exclusively Jaguar related, but I thought I'd share it and invite posts from others, regarding their own DIY tools or devices, made specifically to overcome those occasional awkward jobs.
