Default Fan Assembly MNC4270AC

It looks like I need a fan motor and it only comes as a very expensive assembly. 560GBP or $800 here in the US. There are used ones on ebay for about $150. Is this one of those things you take a chance on? It looks like the X308 has the same part number as well

ALL sedan fan assys from 1993 to 2003 are the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Individual motor/fans are available used or you can pay for NEW if you wish.
There were several parts suppliers on the interweb selling reman individual fans.

I just get used fans and install them on the shroud when one goes bad.

Jaguar sells the RAD FAN as an ASSY!!!!

Different question, the fans and shroud are fine, it is the top motor that needs to be replaced or rebuilt, can it be disassembled and the motor rebuilt?

Just get a good used fan/motor assy, install it and go on with your life.
I don't know if you can get someone to pry the motor apart and get it working. A good/used will likely last a long time.

I keep a few used fans around for customers (and MY two XJ8s) just because.

Default Fixed

I got a used fan assembly off of ebay for $149. and installed it this morning. It was from an X308 and the mounting bushings are thicker, so I had to go get two new bolts that were about a quarter of an inch longer. Otherwise it would have taken me 15 minutes to replace it. Much better than paying $850 for a new one.

Why didn't you just move the rubber bushes from your old fan shroud to the replacement??????

With all due respect since I get way more good advice from you than you get from me, the bushing mounts appeared to be pressed in and it seemed a lot easier to get a couple of longer bolts than trying to extract old bushings from brittle old plastic. So i bought the bolts and got on with it:-)

Good answer.

The rubber mounts are held in a slot in the rubber and then the steel spacer slides in and locks it in. I usually swap the mounts, it is just a little quicker than finding the longer bolts.

You can also swap the fans/motors to the 'better' used fan shroud (if one is cracked/damaged/missing the rubber flaps etc.). Only 3 nuts each.
