Default Door Lock & Alarm

Hi,
I have a 1996 Jag XJ6 that purchased last week. My mechanic has ordered a part for the drivers door lock. It won't open from the inside, but you can open it from the outside, it also locks from the central lock and with the key ( I don't have a key fob yet). The alarm randomly goes off, usually with a few min. of locking the doors. I have to insert the key to turn off the alarm. I just purchased a new battery in case that was the issue, but the alarm still goes off most of the time when the doors are locked. I'm wondering if the faulty door lock could be causing the alarm to go off? I hope the new lock corrects the issue, because it sure is frustrating not being able to lock my car.

Most likely! There was a thread here few days ago about fault with one of the locks, it kept locking and unlocking itself, it was because one of those littler knobs inside kept getting stuck. So most likely until you get your lock fixed, you'll experience problem with alarm.

Thanks FireCrow, I'm hoping it fixes the issue. I really like my car, but this alarm thing is driving me crazy.
