Default Driver's Door Won't Open

So, my driver's door won't open from the inside. Presumably the cable broke.

Resolution: Can I mend the cable? or Do I need a new cable? Where can I get a new one (mostly worried about price)? Could the cable have just slipped off (in my dreams)?

I can get the door panel off fine, but do I need to remove any metal part of the door panel to get to the cable (it's been awhile since I've taken the door panel off so I don't remember it %100).

It's really aggravating having to put the window down and open the door from the outside while still in the car.

Yes, my cable was broken. Bought a new one from local Jag dealer. Wasn't too painful. But you could try usual suspects..Coventry West..or britishparts.co.uk.
There was a thread on jaglovers.org regarding repairing the broken cable end, but I elected to go the new route.

Hey THC, no metal parts of the door to remove. The cable could have come adrift (very unlikely).

I have seen a repair involving a screw on bicycle cable end (no personal experience).

You could do the Daisy Duke thing and climb out the window (less wear on the external door handle). LOL

But I doubt that you will have any problem replacing the cable. If things are really tight, you could borrow the one from the pasenger door.

Super (with regards to it not sounding too hard). I suppose this will be something I'll tackle later today. I have heard of it being repaired with a bicycle spoke. I'd like to go the bicycle spoke route. I hope my bicycle doesn't become unstable with the lack of one spoke.

Well, I've tackled it. Turns out it had just come disconnected/detached from the door lock portion. However, it is fraying very badly at that end. There are 3 out of the 20 woven wires still attached to the screw-like piece at the end. If (when) it brakes again I'll probably try to mend it with JB Weld (or something to that extent).
