I can't connect the driver's side seatbelt on my 1996 XJ6. When I insert the buckle, it slides right back out. I haven't been able to locate one anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions or is there a way to repair it?

Welcome to the forum mack50,
If there's any possibility the buckle or the belt clasp is damaged, I wouldn't risk a repair. It could look OK but fail at the very time you need to rely on it.
All the parts suppliers I've checked are showing the X300 buckle ( HNA7012CAxxx ) as no longer available so the only option is going to be from a scrap vehicle which hasn't been in a high impact accident. Plenty listed on ebay UK if you can't find one in the US.

my mechanic recently replaced mine with one from an XJ40
looks slightly different but totally compatible
mine failed its MOT because the plastic surround had broken and slid down the stalk of the thing

I am having the same issue and the X308 receptacle WILL NOT work. It's good to hear the XJ40 does as this is totally annoying, hard to find and downright dangerous. You can use the passenger side but it sticks up higher I am told. I am buckling mine under the center console lid to the passenger side which is making me feel dumber about it the more I write this post...

On my XJ40, the driver's side buckle was toast so I replaced it with the passenger side buckle from my parts car - you have to disassemble the buckle receptacle but mechanisms and shrouds are identical and swappable L to R - mounting brackets OTOH, non-swappable.
