I wish to find the location of Ecu, The engine keeps going into limp home mode, One fault Coil pack D, This has been Changed as have all plugs Drives Great but suddenly comes up with same fault, after several closer inspection of a common reason I observed it only happen after rain the vehicle is parked at home on the drive 15% slope. The abnormal weather as meant the problem is rare and only after a shower and only after the vehicle has been driven and then restarted. I now believe water is getting in somewhere. thank you in anticipation

 

The ecu is located on the right side of the car if you're looking at it from the back. It is at the front seat side kick panel right by the door. A trim panel with a plastic rivet and two clips hold the panel in place. Once you have that panel removed you'll see the ecu and all it takes is a 8mm for the two bolts holding it in place.

HOWEVER - your heading/signature says 2000 XJ8. If that's what you have then you are in the wrong forum. This information is for 95-97 X300.

For XJ8 I think the ECU is under the bonnet on RH side near bulkhead (but it's a long time since I owned one so best to ask in that forum).
