Engine misfire - No warning lights or rational
Good morning one and all,
I purchased my 96 XJ6 VDP just over a year ago and so far haven't had any problems that I couldn't fix (radio, power mast, lights). However my jag has started with a misfire while driving it. I notice it a lot while the car is cold, it will misfire but not in a specific time, just sitting at the stop light and I may get 1 miss or 5misses. Also once my car warms up the misfiring disappears, it just stops doing it until I let the car go cold then on start up it does it again.
Whenever the engine has its misses, the RPMs dip from idle (around 800RPMs) to 650RPMs but just for a split second.
Also one day when it was VERY hot I had the AC on and was in stop and go traffic and I noticed that when I put my foot down on the gas to move, the engine would almost choke out. I had to feather the throttle from a stop to keep the car from stalling but again, that only happened the once and it went away when I turned the AC off.
I'm going to try to start with just the basic testing, maybe just some bad plugs. I did have them changed 8000km ago so I'd be surprised if they had died that quickly. I've got a funny feeling that I've got the iridium plugs in, but I won't know for certain until I get them out.
Does anyone have an idea what would be causing this misfire only during the first 10min of driving? Or the strangle hold on my engine by the ac in stop and go traffic?
Cheers,
Mike
