Default Exhaust Y section replacement, decat ?

Hello All

Went for first drive of the year to blow some cobwebs away after the winter hibernation, and the exhaust split.

It's gone at the start of the Y section.

Anyone tried removing the second set of cats and did it affect passing the UK MOT emissions test? Car is UK spec.

Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.

Ta

Phil

I am having some work done at David Marks Garage (Nottingham), and part of that was having new manifolds (tubular) fitted, Before he realised that I was de-catting the front he said I could always remove the under floor cats (mix up with slip/donut joint) and it would pass the MOT. So I believe it CAN be done, if the front cats are in good condition, but please check with David, who is the JEC etc advisor for the X300 plus does a lot of work for the JDHT!

Thanks for the recommendation @Cafcpete. Especially because I'm in Nottingham and get there within 30 minutes!

Checked the manifolds, they are cracked as well. Darn't have a close look at down pipe/front cats.

Phoning David Marks tomorrow (Monday) . MMMMMmmmmm, Tubular.

I have a long list of jobs being done, the first was rebuilding the supercharger, so that’s been sent off and nothing is happening till that is refitted, and it’s been away 3 weeks now so should be back soon.

There were some tubular on here for around £600 but you will need underfloor cats then! I think I just bought David’s last OEM cats……

The exhaust system is likely to be last job, but I am changing everything up to the back boxes, so if everything came off with out needing cutting then there will be good (if 28 years old) system you could have cheaply. Talk with David tomorrow and see what he thinks, but it could work if you liked.
