Default Exterior trim removal

Is the exterior trim removable or is it glued in place?

Are there instructions for removal?

G’day Jezuz,

If you mean the metal fittings at the base of the window then they just slide upwards and off the painted part of the door.

cheers,
Jeff.

Although "sliding" sometimes takes the grip of Superman.

Jaguars of the era all used the same basic design of Waist Rail. Here's the equivalent on my XK8:

Here is the lip on the door panel where the Waist Rail pushes on:

I usually protect the top edge of the door with a strip of masking tape and gradually ease the Waist Rail upwards with a thin plastic trim tool.

If it's possible I would like to remove everything to repaint it. It's all scratched up and damaged. The rain gutters look like they're not removable but what about the little plastic triangle piece on the rear door or the B pillar. Has anyone repainted them? It looks like it would be difficult to properly mask off and avoid overspray.

G’day Jezuz,

The rain gutters slide off sideways with a bit of effort. They are not glued on.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Hey sorry to jump on with another question, on my x300 I have black B pillars but can get chrome ones as on the sovereign model, how are these removed?

See the answers to my question on the same subject.
Note that I have not tried to do this yet.
