Default Flashing TRANS MIL X300 1994

Dear all Jag experts.

Hoping someone knows something I dont. I have a late 1994 XJ6 (X300) Daimler Six 4.0L NA. The TRANS MIL is flashing constantly and eveything that I have done to date to stop this has failed.

The vehicle has the updated Trans Control Module (TCM) and I have flashed all systems several times. I have used several OBD2 readers and get no codes - originally I got a P1777 code but this has not returned.

The transmission changes perfectly and is not locked in Limp Mode. The fluid is new but it could be slightly high (I do need to rectify this). I have checked the plug at the left of the trans and its clean and no signs of damage. I have checked both TCM and ECU plugs and both seem fine. I have replaced just aboput all realys in the car and also cleaned all grounds.

When I bough the car it had a terrible stall problem and this I suspected may have upset the TRAN and I assumed I would be able to re-set the TRAN MIL. Have heve even bought a JAG specific OBD2 reader that has not stopped the light.

Anyone got any ideas. Obviusly something must be making the TRANS MILL flash but what I dont know??

Best Wishes

Matt

I don't know if regular OBD2 readers can read the trans codes but this can.

If you think the fluid level is too high, I would be inclined to rectify it before investing any further effort. I have no idea whether it is connected with your issue, but it seems a pity to expend energy wondering...

Make sure you're measuring your fluid level correctly. It's done on a warmed up car on a level ground.

RESOLVED : Dear All - I have reslved this problem (I Think). Technical Bulleting 9/95 Transmission Control Module DTC1777 - Updated Module - specifies that some 1995 MY X300's will have a flashing TRANS MIL light and the solution is to repalce the TCM. It suggests that the new TCM should be teh LHE 2400AH 004 - I have the LHE 2400AH 003 as the original and this was replaced with LHE 2400AH 004. Well now I have replaced it with an LHE 2400AJ 005 from a similar X300 4.0l and the flashing MIL light has stopped. Has anyone else experienced this ? Trans operates through all gears and is smooth!.
