So, does it make sense to simply change all the fuses on my nearly 20 year old car?

I recently had one on the electrical fan circuit blow, which got me thinking that doing so would be an inexpensive and not to difficult bit of preventive maintenance.

I guess I am caught between the two adages: "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Agreed. Fuses have an indefinite service life, the components that blow them don't. For a feel-good bit of preventive maintenance, a slight pull-push on each one will make sure they are all tight and making good contact. Do this with all the relays, for sure. They are more likely to develop loose connections.
