Genuine MAF without mesh...
I bought a spare MAF of UK eBay, correct part LNA1620AA
It arrived today in sealed plastic, and can’t be returned once the plastic is opened. Through the plastic, I can see there is no wire mesh, which every other air flow meter I’ve seen does have. It seems to have no rough edge to suggest it’s been removed.
I want to open the packing to test the meter on the car, but run the risk of being denied a return if it’s open - catch 22.
Has anyone else seen a MAF without mesh?

Unless you have mice in the garage it doesn't really matter whether mesh is there or not.
Most of the MAFs in my car's didn't have it or it was holding up only partially. It doesn't affect MAF itself at all.

I am trying to find a new MAF as well. The existing one on my XJR is also LNA1620AA, 70401C, manufacturing date S1/05, and has a mesh. Genuine new ones are no longer available; aftermarket ones sold by WorldCarParts are out of stock; was told that new stock would be available in about 2 to 3 months.
