Had my XJR compounded and polished today
Will get better pictures later.. it's a rainy day with more expected for the next few days..
As purchased:
Hood before:
Getting started:
He made 4 trips around the car with compound, then 2 with polish..
I'll take some good outdoor pictures when the weather improves..
but trust me when I say it looks 100% better than it did..
(the glass is not done yet, I only paid for a paint refinish)
The hood after:
It's cleaning up nicely!

Not really that important, but my XJR will not peel out.
Will yours just burn the tires from a standstill and flooring it, or are you engine braking it and/or dropping it out of neutral, or ??
I ask, because mine won't "peel out" if its life depended on it from just rolling into a full throttle from a stop or near stop. I have gotten it to break loose from a standstill when turning or if the pavement is a little wet, but otherwise
I've wondered about this as I've seen other shots and stories of the XJR being capable of a burnout, but mine doesn't seem to have it in it. Every once in a while it seems to have more get-up-and-go when the weather is cool of course.
It pulls like a freight train at highway speed really smoothly but powerfully pulling from 60-90ish with no effort, but not really that impressively from a standstill.
Maybe once I get the EGR recall done and they clean the intake, tune it up, etc that will change. We'll see.

That particular shot I let it spin for a second as a 'brake stand' to get them going..
If I'm just at a dead stop, in drive, and I take my foot off the brake and romp
on the gas, it'll leave 40 or 50 feet of posi every time.. Traction control is a must in the wet.
It's not always 'posi'.. sometimes if I get on it just the inside rear wheel (depending on
which way I'm turning) will spin.. Yesterday I made a left out on to a main road and got
on it hard.. the left rear spun like crazy till it hit second, and then they both started spinning
and the car rode that out sideways till about 45 or 50 mph.. it was exciting to say the least LOL.
That said, these Pirelli Pzeros are old and a new set of sticky rubber probably
would not give the same results.. But it sure does pull hard either way~

? no door bumpers on 1997 XJR? There are XJ6 1997
Love the burn out picture,
noticed you don't have any of the body colored door bumper guards on the doors as my same year XJ6 has... did XJR 6 not have those or did you take yours off?
the old analog phone is quite amusing, you left it in?

Not sure exactly what other body colored door bumper guards you may be referring to, as his does have the matching black door guards, as does mine as well have the body colored "Titanium" guards/bumper strips.
Might be hard to see his in some of the photos as they 'blend in'?
....which BTW, the XJ bumper strips are a bit too low to really help a lot against other car doors
P.S.
I got mine to "peel out" a couple days ago without a whole lot of effort, although the tires hooked up pretty quick so it was short and definitely not a "burn out" like the photo above. I may try power braking it at some point to see if I can replicate the effort above

Are you selling this on eBay right now for a quick flip?
Jaguar XJR | eBay
There can't be too many '97 XJRs with 93k miles on them out there...

Yes it's for sale.. I've had my eyes on another Jag that hopefully, this one will help me get..
It's not supercharged, but it's a super clean 1 owner BRG XJ6 that is just about flawless.
If this one doesn't end up selling, I guess I'll be stuck with a sinister looking black on black XJR.. oh darn

Good news indeed!
Congrats!
Glad to see it will be hanging around here, and thus all the hard work to bring it back from the brink will not be potentially in vain versus if it went to "just anyone"
Thanks again to Kev for saving this one!

And money...
It's a sickness indeed. But a good one!
Hopefully this gets you on your way to that XJ6 you want
