Default headlamp hi beams question...

hi can anyone tell me, do the actual headlamp make the highbeams brighter? os it is the lightbulb itself? thanks...

I believe it is a bit of both. If you look at the different styles in lenses, they have a different pattern with regards to the fluting in the glass. That, plus the different bulbs you use make the light disperse differently from the low beams making it brighter.

My own opinion is that the brightness of the bulb is the brightness of the lamp. The difference in the main beam and the dip beam is the lensing of the lamp. The dip beam lens focuses the light lower than the main beam lens, they use the same 55w bulb.

So basically, I'm with TopHat.

Cheers,
