Highest mileage
haha a very well deserved wtf.
not unlike cobb, most of my 96 XJ6's problems have been on account of my own personal learning curve, and my misfortune, i.e. the three rebuilds of the front end, and the head gasket replacement I am currently undergoing at 148k miles, and the new rear end I had put in at about 120k.
BUT,
that will teach you not to drift such a heavy vehicle. or to drive it without fixing the cooling fans.

I have a 96 vdp with 212000 and she is showing no signs of her age.I wish I could say that about my 2004 dodge ram with only 125000.I guess thats what you are paying for when you buy a jag new. These really are a great automobile and as I read here in the forum most of the problems we encounter are of our own doing.
I gave my mom and dad my 199 xj6 with 260k miles on it. I bought the car back in 2005 with 117k miles. This car is still running strong! I also have a 1995 VDP with 185k miles on it.
My 95 VDP was running good at 140k, but repairs started getting costly so I sold it and bought a 97 VDP with less miles.
There's no question that these cars are built to last but with prices so low on them I've found it's not worth doing the repairs to keep them going.

I know of a X300 3.2 that has over 500,000km on the clock and still works good. My old Xj40 3.2 had 330.000 km on the clock and that was also working perfectly My recent X300 has 240.000km on the clock and works like a gem.
These cars will go many many miles that i can promis you

1994 XJ40 with 274,000 miles was traded in by my second oldest daughter for a Mercury Mountaineer in 2007. Ran, looked and drove fine she just wanted 4 wheel drive in the snow.
1996 X300 with 257,000 miles had the front end ripped off by a red light runner. That was 4 years ago and my wife still complains about not having that car even though shes been driving a 2003 XJ Sport ever since.
