Hissing sound on acceleration
Normal XJ6 US 1995
A while back I think I saw a thread about a sound of air hissing when taking off from a stop.
At the time I didn't follow the discussion, because it did not sound familiar to me.
Now it is happening on mine - leave from a stop sign with a "moderate" amount of throttle and it sounds as if air is escaping from an air hose.
It lasts for maybe 2 seconds.
The area seems to be the left - I don't know really - can't quite pinpoint it.
Does anyone remember enough to know what to search for and find that discussion?

I dont recollect the previous thread you are referring to, but have a look around your air cleaner and the associated connections to the MAF. A leak here could make a noise on induction, and it is all on the left of the engine bay....
