How Do You Change 96 VDP Motor Mounts?

Default How Do You Change 96 VDP Motor Mounts?

Please inform me of the the instructions

i have read the one in the service manual but what i need to know is


What comes off so i have room?
Can i jack the engine up from the bottom?
Do i have to use a cherry picker? ( engine hoist)
what are the torque for the bolts?
if i have to use hoist where do i attack hooks?

any diy on this?

ill make one with tons of pics step by step if i can get some info

It's a very straightforward job and a number of ways to do it.. You won't need to take anything off on the right side of the engine bay but taking off the MAFS and intake elbow on the left will make it easier to access the top nut.

Yes you can raise the engine from underneath (most people don't have a hoist and do it this way, just be VERY careful and have a good jack) position the jack under the sump and use a large thick piece of wood to spread the load.

First, take off the nut on top of the mounts. Then take up the strain with the jack and remove the bolts that secure the bottom of the mounts to the crossmember (you may have to lower the steering rack to access these, I can't remember) Then raise the engine with jack just enough to clear the mount bolts and pull them out and replace.

Torque is 43-57 Nm

How do I lower the steering rack n pinion.

Just remove the 4 bolts and the top linkage?
