Default how many manuals

How many manual gearbox cars were made.

The manual gearbox was an option but a rarely bought one...I only know of one number that is thrown around commonly - 115 XJR's....how many others?

and how many conversions... not many i would think

is their a viewable register of manual cars?

I am grumpy because I just failed my NZ warrant of witness (equiv to MOT) because the inspector noticed the brake pedal has been modified (auto to manual required pedal size reduction).
My car was converted by the previous owner to correct Getrag 290 and pedal box, and they have now decided, after many WOF inspections, that it is a 'Modified Vehicle' which means I need to fork out for a separate inspection and certification by the right person.
I pointed out that Jaguar made factory manuals and this is the same, but they are all running scared over here in PC NZ because of recent Health and Safety laws.

Has anyone got a drawing or photo of the factory manual gearbox rear mount set-up?
I want to see if mine is the same, and I can't find a diagram on the net

There were 268manual XJR6 cars built at the factory of which 102 were RHD. These figures were established by reviewing all 90,000 X300 build records. Of the 102 RHD cars (UK market only, as not officially exported to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc) at one time I had identified 42 cars as still being taxed according to the last know registration number on the DVLA database. The current true number could be higher or lower. From our review of the 90,000 records, it was clear that manual 4.0L naturally aspirated cars were even more rare than the XJR6 model. Manual 3.2L cars were quite common. If anyone wanted a precise number I should warn you it took 3 of us about 6man days to go through all the build records at Jaguar Heritage.

Cheers for input Andy...from what I recall, I knew you had most info.... Interesting that most were left hand drive...I would certainly like to find one of those for sale.

I would also guess the number of conversions is probably a very small un known number

I should really start another thread, but further to my woes at the testing station as per post #4 above , new pedals seem to be Unobtanium from Jaguar parts people in UK
Nothing from the wreckers here in NZ, then luckily the previous owner of my car has an XJ40 manual brake pedal which I have bought for him.
I am away for a week but he has sent it to my work, and when I get home, I can hopefully get this silliness resolved.
It is all BS PC - bl@@dy silly Pedal Correctness ... Hey, maybe there's a T shirt in that..
(Will post pics later)

A credit to your bravery and patience with government testing beuracrats .... But as you said there was 'special vehicles' test option, then I would have gone that route.....if only to give the middle finger to the gov procedure

Thank god out testing in UK is still quite friendly to specials and modifications.....one of the few common sense things l can say about UK gov

I just bought one 4.0l naturally aspirated manual in Italy last month, one sold a week before that in Torino and one is still available but for a hefty €8.9k price (Jaguar XJ6 4.0S cat Gebrauchtwagen, Benzin, ? 8.900,- in San giovanni persiceto). It's a brilliant car thou, I love it so far. Traffic jams are a bit of a pain but the backroads, oh man... It's a non-sport variant, which is shame not because of the suspension but because of the slower and slightly less sensitive steering...
