Have you removed the carpet and let everything dry out (carpet and trunk bay)?

Well, at some point, somehow, water got into the trunk. Most likely rainwater from above or roadwater from below.
As mentioned, remove everything and let it thoroughly dry....and then start looking for the source of the leak....which might not be easy to find. Possible rear glass leak? Or, roadwater can enter from below in some cases....missing trunk floor grommet or such.
