I've always figured "$5000" for a "decent" paint job. Of course much more can be spent.

This is why, all too often, it ends up being less expensive to buy a used Jag in mint condition at the higher end of the price range than buying at the lower end and spending $$$$ to bring the car up to the same standard.

It's a bit hard justifying $5000+ paint jobs when the value of most X300s is below that and still dropping. But, I reckon most of us have willingly spent "more than the car is worth" many times in our lives. That's what "car guys" do

Maaco is one alternative to make a crummy looking Jag look much better. Just don't get your hopes up too high!

Cheers
DD

I know of many guys over on the Corvette Forum that have used Maaco to spray their cars. The key to an acceptable finish is in the body preparation, and that is where they did the work themselves.

Good, I'm glad you have a guy your familiar with..more likely than not, if he is going to do proper dissassembly, then he will most likely use good materials, and him being a Jag owner is a plus....

In that he knows how to dissassemble without breaking more than he fixes...

Good for you ! and it sounds like your getting more than a fair deal to boot! congrats....
