Hi I have a 1996 xj6
long story short I lost the keys. Got a new lock cylinder and key but the metal piece that goes in between the ignition switch and the key lock wont go back in. I have tried for days now to find the sweet spot but it simply wont go all the way back in to connect the 2 pieces together.
please help!

Question on if there is a difference between a no chip key ( in the US version of the 95 - 97 X300 ) with no transponder ring around the key barrel compared to rest of world in the same production years?
From my understanding , later on the 98 X308 in the US they came with a chip key transponder system
Was the new part sourced from a X100 , X300 , or X308 as they are almost exactly alike on the ignition switch

Hello,
I wonder if the " new " lock has come from an early car.
There are a lot of differences on the X300`s, ie the early rear seats do not fit the later cars.
Just a thought.
