Installing an aftermarket stereo, wiring diagram?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the radio head unit for the standard sound system? I've looked all over the net and archives and I'm not 100% sure I've found the right one. I've got a new JVC unit and the autoleads ISO adapter which does not appear to be the only cable adapter I need, so I think I may just hard wire the new radio in so I don't need to wait any longer.

I may have answered my own question with this: 1997 Jaguar XJ6 Car Stereo Wiring Diagram | radiobuzz48.com Problem is my new stereo has wires for Illumination, 12V ignition, 12V battery. The diagram on the site mentions a "radio constant" and a "radio switched" wire and I've no clue what either of those are or what they would translate into with the new stereo.

All I'm trying to do is a simple head unit swap. I don't have the original CD changer in the trunk anymore, so I don't need to wire that. Standard sound system, no amp.
I've got this JVC unit: JVC KD-R960BTS CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
And this harness: Autoleads PC2-55-4 - Jaguar Sovereign, XJ6, XK8, XKR, XJ-V8, XJ12 Wiring Harness
I know very little about wiring and electrics. In the past I've very successfully managed to wire new speakers in the doors, and I'm comfortable cutting, stripping and connecting wires. Just going in blind on this one.

Disclaimer: I havn't tinkered with the radio in this car, but I have in other vehicles. And the majority of car radios work the same.
Its not too terribly difficult. The 12V constant wire is the 'always hot' wire, that wire provides continuous power to the radio (so the display always shows the clock and you don't lose station settings ect.). That would be the 12V battery wire.
The 12V switched wire is the one that is connected to the car's switched on power system. That wire becomes hot when the car is turned to the on position on the ignition. Think of it as the wire that actually turns the radio on.
The illumination wire is the signal wire that tells the head unit to dim at night. If I am reading the wiring diagram correctly, the Jag uses a wire to power the radio lights (Red/Pink wire) and a wire to tell the radio to turn them on (Red/Light Green). I believe you want to use the Red/Light Green wire.
