Default Intermittent heat.

A little bit of a weird problem. '97 X300, VDP. Heat had been working fine since I got it 6 weeks ago. This past weekend I ran to the store and noticed it was still blowing cold air even after the temperature gauge came up to normal temperature. After running into the store for about 15 minutes I came out and when I started it up it was blowing warm again. Then this week on the way to work, same thing, cold air after the temp gauge came up to normal. I pulled over at a gas station, turned the car off and then back on and got warm air. It must be the heater control valve I'm thinking? Or maybe the louvers under the dash. I did cycle through the various positions of the vents and that didn't help.

There is a easy bite test that you press buttons on the climate control panel

See page 110

This Doc was written during the later X308 time but the same Denso climate control system

There is a list of codes in a TSB

14-10 (jagrepair.com)

T703 BOOK (jagrepair.com)

Someone made a Youtube video

Most likely it is the brushes in the electric motor / pump assembly that circulates hot coolant to the heater core ( matrix ) , cheap and easy fix

.15" x .15" x .35" BRUSH 33A (eurtonelectric.com)

Some have replaced the motor / pump assembly with a Bosch unit

Thanks! Do these look like they'd work, maybe with some slight modification?
