Intermittent stereo
Hi all,
I am having a problem in my 1996 300R whereby the standard stereo will intermittently switch itself off. If I try to switch it back on it is completely unresponsive and occasionally it will turn back on again after a while with no input from myself. It seems to always switch on fine automatically when I first start the car, then die after a short while. Is this something other people have experienced? Any idea on how to remedy this issue?
Cheers

The on / off switch is an encoder switch that can be cleaned or replaced
Looks like this with specific stem length , shape , and diameter
I just purchased one from a salvage yard that does not power up so that would be a candidate to take apart and tinker with and get a part #
I would assume a cell phone repair shop would have someone with the skill sets to replace it
One of the stereo head fuses is in the LH Heelboard fuse box witch is powered by the king relay in the corner of the fuse box
In case that relay is " floating " and coming off closed contact it can be swapped with the same relay in the corner of the LH engine compartment fuse box king relay , which in reality is only the horn relay
