ipad mini in my vdp
Anyone using an ipad or ipad mini or similar in their x300? I'm trying to figure out my best options to use it as my gps and music player (along with code reader) but would like to keep some class in my decision on where it will be. Safety is always a concern of course.
Thanks for any input.

that's the sort of install I have in mind, best location for it is in place of the stereo, get rid of the clock and you have enough space to fit the screen (with little fabrication of course). But there might be a slight problem with sat nav signal, if it sits in there.
The ipad mini won't fit under the havoc controls. Not enough room and there are still function buttons on the clock that would have to be relocated. I like the idea of a custom install but I can't imagine where that would be without looking a little too gaudy.
I'm with you, forgot that iPad is quite large around the screen :-/ Yeah, my install will be using different type of screen, although still 7inch, and yes, I will relocate the buttons
Unless the climate control buttons would be relocated as well, I can't really see any other place for the iPad in X300 :-/

I'd love it if there was hardware and ios software to replace the hvac controls all-together, then the solution might be simple (i.e.) keep the aftermarket head unit I have in and just remove the rest of the console items (clock and climate controls). In my limited research, I don't see that option, however. Not at least with countless hours of engineering anyhow....that's not saying I might not give it a go but takes away from the simplicity of an ipad mini install.
I'm even ok with some sort of mount. My trouble is finding a place to mount it that:
1) is safe and doesn't either obstruct my view of the road or, should I want to glance right quick, take my eyes off the road anymore than if I were to check my speed.
2) doesn't cover up my head unit
3) prefer it not bounce around going down the road (more for the distraction and absurdity reasons of it than the safety of the device)....looks like some of the seat bolt mounts might bobble up and down with the slightest movement.
4) I'd rather not cover up to many vents if any at all and always thought covering them in itself was a little tacky.
5) I don't want to take away from the general classiness of our cars. Even choosing an aftermarket head unit I made sure that the backlight could be changed to that minty color that the rest of the interior seems to use.
I guess more googling at lunch...

Croooow, that's a ton or glass work (BTW, what's up with the Fiberglass Forum site?)
I was looking into a double-DIN unit, but not sure I want to mess with moving all those buttons to other locations.
My current, cheap unit has that color, but I went with blue
