Jaguar X300 - door pocket recovery and handle seal replacement
Thought I'd paste a few pics from this job, it took whole day to do 4 doors, I've replaced the fabric in the door pockets with some leather, all mine were perished and just a mess and leather should be much easier to clean. This is pretty much straight forward job, remove the door card, remove all screws and disassemble the door pocket, then very carefully cut the old fabric off, restitching to the original leather isn't necessary, I've simply glued and folded new piece where the old seam was and secured it with some staples.
I've also replaced all 4 door handle seals while in there. Original ones were all brittle and in pieces. This is quite a difficult job, especially if you never done it before, a mini 7mm ring spanner is absolutely necessary. A magnet for all the dropped nuts and small hands would definitely help.
Doesn't matter, everything on that side (and the rest) of the car was already ****ed up in one way or another anyway. Source: (thankfully former) recent xj8 owner/service slave.
