That wouldn't work. The frequency is the same, but the codes are set via a "handshake" with each individual receiver. That's why my FOB will not unlock your car unless it's been specifically coded to your receiver.

Thanks Suede, I just bought the Clone fob but I found the exact one on Amazon> My remote for the 1997 is still working but missing the back cover.

If its works as you indicated. Somebody or me would lend a hand to 1997 owners and let them borrow the original fob so they can set up with their Jags and clone afterward with the clone fob. I might do that for the member forum.

Annamiata,
Thanks for the offer, but as mention by Suede, just above your post, each FOB is vehicle specific.

If you have an original 413 hMZ fob or borrowed, you can program the code from the specific Jaguar., In this case, its any 1997 XJ6. Then use the Chinese cheap fob to clone the code from the programmed fob.

Yup, that should work. Do you have a link to the Amazon FOB? Maybe we can set up a separate thread and we can mail your FOB to each other once they have the clone in hand, if you are willing to assist. Maybe others can post their comments.

Five minutes prior to your post, I ordered one, too. We will have to provide the battery and it is not listed. We will figure this thing out. Thanks

Sent an EBay message to the UK dealer and they responded by stating that the battery in their clone remote is a 27A.

The correct battery is CR-2016, which is the same one used in a genuine Jaguar Fob.

Got my key fob in the mail and tried it with my 97XJR6 but no luck. The key fob is 315mhz and I'm pretty sure my system is 433mhz. I do have access to 315mhz security ecu boxes.

Does anyone know if I were to switch these out, would it affect anything?

Decided to go ahead and switch out my original security ecu with a 315mhz one and now my key fob from ebay is working.
Lock/unlock works perfectly but when I have my windows open, long pressing the lock button does not roll them up.

1 press unlocks driver and fuel door
2 presses unlocks all 4 doors
3 presses opens trunk

Long pressing the Lock Button on the dash should roll up the windows. Long pressing the Lock Button on the Fob is not supposed to roll up the windows.

Suede....The 27A battery was for the Chinese clone remote shown in the photo posted by Annamiata, which a UK company and others are selling. I emailed them and they stated that the battery was the 27A. Mine is not due to arrive until the end of July, early August. If I get a Jag remote and the Chinese clone remote works, then I will have a backup.
Take care,
Joe

Won an EBay auction for a Jag remote. Got a good price. Plan to program the Chinese remote that is in the mail as a backup. Let's hope everything works.

Well, my key FOB arrived today and it was a K85JTX315 NOT the K85JTX433 as advertised. In contact with the Seller to find out what's UP. Also received my Chinese remote. The 27A is the correct battery, but without a working Jaguar remote, it is useless. The saga continues.
