You take the radio/hvac stack out and replaced that clock and switches as an assembly. The heater switches are not seperate and part of the circuit board otherwise you could just take out the clock. Ive tried the card repair and the lcd display ribbon is very fragile and comes off the board easily. I just replaced mine and bought at the dealer, theyre still avail

As an alternative to replacing.....

Google Jaguar clock repair or search these archives. There's at least one outfit out there repairing them. It might be "ModuleMasters" or something like that.

Cheers

Just North of $100

ModuleMaster | Services | Clock Modules

Maybe I misread it but it sounded like the OP says his clock is all broken up. They can't rebuild from that..but if just the common disappearing or partial display....they can. There is a "How-to" on removing the center stack somewhere on here...it is easy and not to be feared....

I think "broken up" is referring to what's displayed on the LCD, as opposed to the physical LCD itself.

Yes, send it to ModuleMaster. I posted a mini review somewhere.

Taking apart the ski slope/centre console is not as hard as it looks, but removing the J-Gate surround *without breaking anything* is a real mission. If anyones been there before, it might be broken already, which is sort of a blessing as you don't have to worry about it!

Also, the ski slope veneer trim sometimes requires a bit of bending to get it out/in, but if you bend it too far the clear coat will crack (especially if it's seen lots of UV).

While we're on the topic of the X300 clock, mine failed some time back (no surprise there!). A repair was unsuccessful. When I see working models for sale, without exception every one has different controls either side of the display compared to mine. For example, they have the rotary headlamp level control on the left but in this position mine has only a door 'lock' button.
My question therefore is, if I buy one of these will it be simply plug in and replace my existing clock or because the controls are different will I perhaps find that although the clock works the buttons/switches either side won't as the wiring inside is different!

Oubadah, good point on the J-Gate surround...mine was broken and "floating" when I got the car...so that was the easiest part! An occasional "jiggle" required to remove the key after parking...

I just got mine back from ModuleMasters. They did a fantastic job, just a little over 1 week, was the turn around. They can replace the LEDs with either turquiose or blue, I chose to keep the OEM color and went with turquiose. I would definitely use them again!
