Default Locking with key??

On my brothers '96 XJ6 one must turn the key in the drivers door lock right, left, and right again fairly quickly or a few second later the alarm will sound. When attempting locking by turning the key to the left, two quick chirps, followed by a longer beep. Then, within a few seconds after the beep the alarm sounds. The battery is good, and all doors, hood and trunk are closed correctly. The remote is dead, and has not been used for some time. Any ideas?? He posted earlier, but in the wrong area. We would surely appreciate any insight. Thanks as always, Mike.

I have a similar problem, but not exactly the same. Try using the passenger door lock, mine works properly. I have not investigated the function of the locks and door modules, but hopefully some one with experience will assist.

Here's the way it should work from the US Security Handbook:

Given that used remote fobs can be obtained cheaply and DIY reprogrammed, it could be the easiest way out of this dilemma.

Bernie,

It's rare to get a used Jaguar with a full set of keys (2 x Black headed Master + 1 x Green headed Valet) and remote fobs (2). Resolving this is a regular issue with many new members.

Add to that odd electrical issues resulting from poor batteries and the security/locking system can sometimes appear to be haunted!

My 96 Vanden Plas came with one key and no fobs. I can't get it to lock from outside the vehicle. (It locks fine from inside). I have identified it has the 433mHz system so I am looking for fobs for it.

Search on eBay for the Saab remote LTQFM433. It will work for your vehicle and is only about $20 vs $200

its easy to cut a new set of keys, just look for a key duplicator shop that would have had a blank abloy key for cutting.
