97 4.0 LWB US spec. was dropping something off and then came back and cranked the car over for a split second before i could hear a pop up front and total lights out. jumper isn't doing anything either. sounds starter overdraw tripped something but have no idea what fuses\relays can cut all power to the vehicle like this.


if what i'm seeing is right, there's two master 250A fuses in the battery compartment for the starter and one in the RH rear seat pan for the fuse boxes. first i'm going to have to drill my way into the trunk

 

Dont drill your way into the trunk just yet!!
There is a positive terminal under a rubber cover beside each of the fuse boxes in the engine bay. Try connecting a separate battery to this, and use the body shell or engine for the earth connection. Your boot button should then work.

 

trunk drilled and popped open in 5 seconds. locking nut clamping battery cables to fuses....finger tight.

Why not use the key to open the boot lid???????????????????????

mechanism is weak. compared to dremeling out the parcel shelf for the fuel pump this one was no biggie
