Default Low power steering assist

We got a Jiffy Lube coupon on Black Friday for a free oil change. My Dad wanted to take the Jag in since it costs like twice as much to change the oil on it than our other cars. He took it in a couple days ago, and ever since the power steering has had like half the assist. It's harder to steer than normal... The pump is still quiet like before, no noise, plenty of fluid, no leaks... I bled the system and it's the same. I think they topped it off with the wrong fluid. My boss said lots of European cars require mineral based PS fluid, and other fluids will disable the pump. Sounds like that's what happened. Thoughts?

I wonder if, while they were removing the oil filter, they may have disturbed the assist solenoid on the steering rack. There is somewhat of a technique to getting to that filter and out. They may have simply disconnected it and forgot to reinstall it. The fluid is only a dexron/atf type fluid. Nothing special.

There is plenty of room to get the oil filter out, but good call! I got under there and simply fiddled with the electrical connector on the front of the rack right under the oil filter. I was making sure it was plugged in well and it was, but whatever I did, it's fixed now. Maybe it got oil in the connection, or got a little loose. I don't know, but it's fixed now, so thank you!

Well, if the connector was right under the oil filter, maybe they drenched it in oil when dropping the oil filter and then wiped the outside of the connector off. That would leave oil inside the connector. Or maybe they jiggled it in passing and it went to a bad spot on the connector.

But you fixed it!
